Out of Whack

We went to the local Farmer's Market this morning. There was also some sort of small town Fall Festival going on. You know - where all the candidates for office show up and hand out balloons, and the police come and let the kids climb in the cars and pet the canines. With the jumping castles, all the food booths, and Creative Memories ladies. You get the idea.

One of the chiropractors in town also had a booth. I've written, oh, a couple of dozen times lately, about how stressed I've been, so I figured - what the heck - I should see what this guy has to say.

The news was not good. Apparently, I either have disk problems or arthritis in my neck. Also - one of my shoulders is higher than the other, as is one of my hips. He even showed me in his circus mirror he had set up! How can a girl go through life without noticing this? Did anyone else notice this about me? Why am I always the last to know?!!

After he delivered this little tidbit of information, he proceeded to give me a lecture on the importance of stretching before and after I exercise.

I think I need a second opinion...

Comments:
It is quite normal for shoulder height to be different along with your hip height. The fact that you are probably right handed and do a lot with one side of the body would lead to that. Arthritis is also a normal aging process. Probably from DJD (degenerative joint disease) and if you have had any trauma to a certain area, including microtraumas, that area degenerates at a quicker rate. Almost everyone has some sort of DJD (DDD - degenerative disk disease) in their body. X-rays help is the cheapest route to visualize some of those changes in your spine.
While it is a good idea to go see the chiropractor (personal thoughts), don't stress about natural changes in your body as a result of the aging process.
Those are very typical presentations in the chiropractic office. Don't let it scare you, but there are ways to help prevent the progression of a lot of those processes.
The idea is to remove nerve interferences so that your body and mind can function better. Think of brushing your teeth, it is done so you don't lose them. Chiropractic can also be used as preventative (as well as acute and chronic) care for your whole body. Our bodies are amazing and they respond to all different kinds of stresses.
Feel free to give a ring for any other questions!
Love you LQ and Family!!

Ladies and Gentlemen -

*THIS* (see above comment) is why I love my sister-in-law.

Isn't she the coolest? She's studying to be a chiropractor - so she actually knows what she's talking about.

We'll both be unleashed on the general public sometime around Nov/Dec of next year to practice in our respective fields.
