Legal Quandary

You're not allowed to pump your own gas in Oregon. It's strange.
 

Same is true in New Jersey. They actually tried to lift the ban and the legislature wouldn't go for it. Apparently, state legislators really don't like pumping own gas.

Yes, Oregoners (Oregonites? Oreganos?) call it "mini-serve", meaning, someone pumps the gas, but no one checks your oil or washes your windows. Some Portlanders told me that its purpose is to create jobs. High-quality, meaningful jobs. Using that logic, you could outlaw screwing in lightbulbs...
